We know a lot of you may be super frustrated after being asked by the government to remain at home till the 31st March 2020 due to the COVID19 outbreak. While some of us may continue with our daily routine of working (this time around from home), many are often bored being cooped up at home. Your pixies are asking you to take a step back and think of the frontlines (our dedicated group of medical professionals worldwide) who are working extremely hard for all of us, putting their lives at risk. Stay at home until then and let’s hope there won’t be an extension of asking us to restrict our movements. Here are some suggestions of what you can do instead:
1. BOND WITH YOUR FAMILY Some of us can get busy with work and by the time we get home, it’s only few minutes that we get to spend with the kids before it’s their bedtime. Most of the time the kids spent are with their nanny. Well, parents, this is your time to make up for all those missing hours at home. Wake up in the morning, play games together with your children, have meals together, do something fun at home. Family time is priceless and instilling that thought and feeling within your child will take you a long way later. 2. SPRING CLEAN TIME Weren’t you supposed to clean that wardrobe almost a month ago? Well, now’s the time to get to it! Clean up all the clutter at home, or maybe even consider rearranging and decorating your home to give it a fresh new look. By the end of the lockdown period, you’ll be left with a home that’s fresh and cosy (but don’t exert yourself up too much lah, you don’t want to be seeing a doctor unless really necessary!) 3. BAKE / LEARN TO COOK A NEW RECIPE Why don’t you try that recipe of the layered chocolate cake that you’ve been putting off for quite some time now? Make it fun – bring your partner and kids into the picture too! What could be better than baking and spending time together as a family together right? If you haven’t tried cooking before, this could be your first time and who knows, you might probably even enjoy cooking (but don’t lah go try recipes that will use lots of ingredients that would make you go out of the house to stock up on ingredients, economy bad mah!) 4. CATCH UP ON SOME READING You’ll never understand that feeling of physically holding a book and smelling its fresh pages as you flip it over page by page if you’ve always been reading e-books alone. Pick up one of the books on your bookshelf and get reading. Set yourself a target of finishing one book a day, and you’ll be surprised at home much you’ve finished by the end of the month! 5. WATCH YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIES There are so many movies and TV shows on Netflix, iFlix or even Astro for you to binge watch on. Astro has even given us Malaysians till the end of the month a free subscription of ALL their channels for ZERO extra charge! Choose what you like and bring the cinema to your doorstep. Make your homemade popcorn, fill up a glass of coke or your favourite drink. Tap on the link below and you’ll find over 100 of the best movies you can find on Netflix to fill up your time while you’re at home. 6. GET SWEATY AND WORK THOSE MUSCLES Last but not least, be sure to get some workout in while you can! You may find a lot of useful yoga, Tabata and other easy workout videos on YouTube that you can follow at the comfort of your own home - with minimum equipment. Stay active, guys! Stretch and work those muscles! That’s all from your pixies for now. Let’s all stay safe and hopefully we would be able to go on our next vacation soon after we’re free from this COVID19. Share with us what are your helpful suggestions to make this time at home interesting for all of us to enjoy. Till next time! Xoxo, Your Pixies

FixiesWe came up with the whole name when we said we wanted to help 'fix' other's social media problems. And as two females moving into this venture, Fixie Dust seemed to fit the bill! Archives
