Extended for another ONE MONTH?! Yes, that’s right. While our government is busy preparing us to adjust to the ‘new normal Covid19 lifestyle’, most of us aren’t exactly allowed to satisfy our cravings especially if we’re from different states and you can’t exactly go to your favourite restaurants or eateries to grab your favourite food. All you people living in Selangor & KL are extremely lucky that you guys get to enjoy the yummy goodies we’re craving for (Ash is stuck in N9 by the way). Being as generous as we can, we’re sharing with you our top food cravings from our favourites during MCO – you can thank us later! 😊
1. CAKES AND SWEET DELIGHTS by giftbydinoric
May is a month filled with birthdays, and special occasions. But hey – you don’t always need a reason to enjoy a pretty cake with rich flavors that will never fail to put the sweetest smile on your face. Share the love and surprise someone maybe GIFT by Dinoric is ever-ready to complete your special occasions.

2. BIG, FAT, CHEWY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES by Flybakesbyling
Perfect for a sweet escape to chocolate heaven. If you’re a health freak, just maybe these crunchy cookies would be a perfect option for you. Flybakesbyling bakes them using only premium ingredients with less sugar (only if you’d like!). Fairly new in the market, but take a bite of their cookie, and you’ll find your jar empty sooner than expected. Start placing your orders for Raya soon.

3. MEXICAN-INSPIRED FOOD TO YOUR DOORSTEP by orale.my
Tired of having the usual mamaks or your home cooking, and just feel like having something different for your lunch or dinner? Well, how about some Mexicana! They have some pretty good deals during MCO, so why not try some of their famous burritos, quesadillas or taco. P/S, their lamb is our personal favourite. Their vegetarian pumpkin taco is real yummy too!
Lucita’s Little Lamb Burrito
Hector’s Pet Fish Burrito
4. YOUR MUST TRY AYAM PENYET IN KL by penyet_express_restaurants
Our personal favourite and an all-time cuisine that remains our favourite every single time. They’re not much on social media, but you can place your orders on Foodpanda or Grab Food and you’d be able to relate to how we feel towards ayam penyet. Here’s a pre warning: don’t be fooled by the sambal. Eat it little at a time and you’ll still feel that tinge of spiciness going down your throat.
Smashed Fried Chicken
Restaurant: Penyet Express
5. HOMEMADE G&T AND SOMETHING SPECIAL FROM ITSY BITSY by barpahit
MCO has been tough on us, but these guys decided to spice that up a little bit by giving you the chance to enjoy your very own Gin & Tonic at home with their very own house infused GIin (Bottled Gin). However, these are very limited in quantity and we would advise for you to order as soon as possible! We’ve always loved just chilling in Bar Pahit after a long tiring day over some of their best Gin and Tonic. Oh and did we mention, they’re open for dine in now already (with proper SOP in placed, of course!). Do check them out, however, be sure to make reservations earlier if you don’t want to be disappointed.
While you’re ordering some G&T, we would highly recommend that you try something from the kitchen too, known as itsy bitsy kitchen. This is fairly new from Pahit, food options ranging from Pasta to Chicken and Mutton - they’ve got it all and it's super satisfying!
Homemade infused Gin
6. STAY AT HOME AND SIP SOME WHISKEY by kenshinkl
Cravings for drinks? Good news, they deliver your favourite bottles and cigars to your doorstep. If you can’t get to Kenshin during MCO, they will come to you! Enjoy the crazy promotion and place your orders today. We absolutely love their whiskey and it is one of the many ways to start the weekend right.
We’re craving for many many other things too, and we’ve started our very own list once this is all done with. While most of us are exploring our natural hidden talents at cooking or baking at home, some of us are also actively looking for people who can supply baked goods to their home and also for Hari Raya. Do support small businesses, it definitely is a plus point when their products are extra yummy and at an affordable rate too, right? 😉 Most of them are also providing delivery services that you can explore. Stay tuned to our next article, but before that let us know what you’re craving for as well!
Product marketing is one of the most important elements especially if your end goal is to sell the product rather than just advertising it. This is where is it essential for you to learn one of the many important skills that you should have to be able to successfully sell your product: Product Photography. While many of us think that product photography is something only professionals can do and not just everyone, think again. All you need is a sprinkle of pixie dust and open your mind to be as creative as you can (don’t limit yourself!). We’re going to share with you three simple product photography tips that you can try during your next photoshoot!
1. Don't Be Afraid to Use Your Smartphone Camera
You would essentially think that to be able to achieve a clean and professional looking photo, you probably would need to invest in a few thousands to buy an expensive DSLR camera, but in reality, you can shoot a perfect photo with only your smartphone! Smartphones nowadays have come a long way since the older smartphone days where you were unable to adjust your temperature settings, your saturation, the amount of light you want to filter while you capture the shot, the blurry effect of the background, making your product stand out and lots more. If you are just starting out, take our advice and don’t invest in an expensive camera unless you really need it.
2. Shoot From a Tripod for Photo Consistency
You should invest in a tripod! You can also check out some of the basic tripods online at a very budget friendly price (between RM10-RM15). Once you get the hang of it, then you can consider investing in something of a better quality. For starters, it is advised for you not to prop your phone against something sturdy to aim your lens towards the subject of your shoot. You can do without a tripod and just hold your camera while shooting, but as your business grows you will need to standardize the orientation of your product in each photo which will make it challenging without a tripod.
3. Natural Light vs. Artificial Light: Choose One
Lighting is very important in product photography as it has the power to make a product look extremely good, or very unappetizing and not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. This process is important as this is what draws the pontential buyer's attention. If your lighting is perfect enough to make your product stand out, then you're ready to sell! Yes, some photos can be edited but if the lighting is not great, natural or artificial, no editing can save it, trust us.
We will be sharing more on this on our upcoming articles, so stay tuned! That's all from your pixies this time around, hope this article helps!
With expressions between ‘EXTEND AGAIN AH?’ and ‘GOOD LAH, GOVERNMENT SHOULD EXTEND TO AVOID FURTHER SPREADING OF COVID19’..
Before addressing today’s topic - Salam Ramadhan, guys! 😊
So, as we were saying earlier, some of us had very mixed opinions about the extension of the MCO. It's not just us who are frustrated with the current pandemic that we are facing, the whole world is also going through the same battle – some countries worse than others.
What has changed and what remained constant through the first phase of the MCO till the upcoming fourth phase? For us, the main thing that changed throughout this phase is the decreasing number of cases that was reported every now and then over the course of the MCO phase 3. Hats off to our frontliners for sacrificing and putting their own lives on the line just to save another life. The only thing our government has and keeps stressing is to increase our hygiene and practice social distancing – especially when we leave our homes to buy groceries etc.
As good citizens, it is wise to listen to our frontliners, our government when they keep advising us to stay at home. Your one action could make a big difference. Take the extra measure, sanitize always, maintain social distancing, avoid crowded areas. In the meantime, while we are at home unable to carry on with our usual routines, take it as a good time to look at the MCO in a different perspective. Pick up new hobbies (like we did – you can check our video out on our social media pages), try new recipes, learn something different etc. While you’re busy with your new found hobbies, don’t forget your ‘lepak kaki’ lah. Houseparty, Facetime or Zoom with them and keep in touch still. Try different activities and come up with your own challenges!
So, #dudukrumah guys. Make a change. Always remember, your every gesture counts. That’s all from your pixies today. We hope all of you are keeping safe – until we meet again.
If you’ve gotten yourself stuck at any points with any of the questions above, then this article is for you (Yes, keep reading). Perhaps before we go further, how well do you know social media? Because we are going to tell you something that is REALISTIC AND REAL. It is then up to you to decide if it fits what you’re looking for or not.
The REAL TRUTH about social media is the fact that :
IT ALLOWS ANYONE TO BE A MAJOR INFLUENCE IN THE COMMUNITY
Social media is influential enough to allow consumers opinions to spread far and wide real quickly. However, try connecting this to your brand and see if you’d be able to reach out to as many people as possible given a short time span. Why is brand awareness so important nowadays and what impact can it actually have on your business?
While everyone is thinking about what to do during this quarantine period, we would like to urge all business owners to consider social media marketing for your brand during this time. This is the season where almost EVERYONE, yes everyone is constantly scrolling through their phones day and night.
Why social media, you would ask. Let us ask you something simple: prior to trying a new brand and etc. you would naturally do your research on that specific brand. What attracts you first is their content, isn’t it? Good content is one of the many reasons people would be more interested to find out more about your brand.
If you’re a new business that is hoping to hit your specific target audience or if you’re an established brand but you’re looking for someone to curate and create content specific to your brand wants and needs – social media is the way to go! When you should start – is now. Your pixies would like to share with you a little advice: prioritize your engagement over your likes per post! Create content that is ready to WOW your target audience. If you need a little sprinkle of fixie dust, hit us up via social media or even our email and we’ll be more than happy to sprinkle our magic on your brand.
XO, your pixies.
We know a lot of you may be super frustrated after being asked by the government to remain at home till the 31st March 2020 due to the COVID19 outbreak. While some of us may continue with our daily routine of working (this time around from home), many are often bored being cooped up at home. Your pixies are asking you to take a step back and think of the frontlines (our dedicated group of medical professionals worldwide) who are working extremely hard for all of us, putting their lives at risk. Stay at home until then and let’s hope there won’t be an extension of asking us to restrict our movements. Here are some suggestions of what you can do instead:
1. BOND WITH YOUR FAMILY
Some of us can get busy with work and by the time we get home, it’s only few minutes that we get to spend with the kids before it’s their bedtime. Most of the time the kids spent are with their nanny. Well, parents, this is your time to make up for all those missing hours at home. Wake up in the morning, play games together with your children, have meals together, do something fun at home. Family time is priceless and instilling that thought and feeling within your child will take you a long way later.
2. SPRING CLEAN TIME
Weren’t you supposed to clean that wardrobe almost a month ago? Well, now’s the time to get to it! Clean up all the clutter at home, or maybe even consider rearranging and decorating your home to give it a fresh new look. By the end of the lockdown period, you’ll be left with a home that’s fresh and cosy (but don’t exert yourself up too much lah, you don’t want to be seeing a doctor unless really necessary!)
3. BAKE / LEARN TO COOK A NEW RECIPE
Why don’t you try that recipe of the layered chocolate cake that you’ve been putting off for quite some time now? Make it fun – bring your partner and kids into the picture too! What could be better than baking and spending time together as a family together right? If you haven’t tried cooking before, this could be your first time and who knows, you might probably even enjoy cooking (but don’t lah go try recipes that will use lots of ingredients that would make you go out of the house to stock up on ingredients, economy bad mah!)
4. CATCH UP ON SOME READING
You’ll never understand that feeling of physically holding a book and smelling its fresh pages as you flip it over page by page if you’ve always been reading e-books alone. Pick up one of the books on your bookshelf and get reading. Set yourself a target of finishing one book a day, and you’ll be surprised at home much you’ve finished by the end of the month!
5. WATCH YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIES
There are so many movies and TV shows on Netflix, iFlix or even Astro for you to binge watch on. Astro has even given us Malaysians till the end of the month a free subscription of ALL their channels for ZERO extra charge! Choose what you like and bring the cinema to your doorstep. Make your homemade popcorn, fill up a glass of coke or your favourite drink. Tap on the link below and you’ll find over 100 of the best movies you can find on Netflix to fill up your time while you’re at home.
6. GET SWEATY AND WORK THOSE MUSCLES
Last but not least, be sure to get some workout in while you can! You may find a lot of useful yoga, Tabata and other easy workout videos on YouTube that you can follow at the comfort of your own home - with minimum equipment. Stay active, guys! Stretch and work those muscles!
That’s all from your pixies for now. Let’s all stay safe and hopefully we would be able to go on our next vacation soon after we’re free from this COVID19. Share with us what are your helpful suggestions to make this time at home interesting for all of us to enjoy. Till next time!
Few more days till February ends. How did your February go? The question is, are you REALLY ready for March? 😉 We’re happy to share with you a little sneak peak from what we’re been through since January and why we are so excited for March to start!
Our year started with endless items to cross off our daily to-do list and it never got any easier as January ended and February made its appearance. Your pixies were occupied with lots of office work as well as photoshoots. We’ve gone as far as to Penang and all the way down south to Port Dickson even. The best part about all these are the fact that we came across many different people who were willing to help us tick out to-do list off. (Thank you, you know who you are!)
It gets worse when during one of the shoots we had to be out and about under the scorching hot sun which got us all burnt and resulted in patchy, peeling skin here and there. Thankfully, now is the recovery phase – so if you’ve got tips to recover from this, please share them with your pixies!
We’re super-duper ready for March. It looks like a month that is a tad bit breathable for us – for now. Perhaps more gym days? Hmm. Some people say going to the gym is therapeutic, do you really think so? Well, at least both our ‘Perfectionist’ and ‘Organised Chaos’ think so. However, ‘Baby Pixie’ is still a newbie at the gym, share some motivation and tips for her to try! Till the next blog update!

Till we meet again.
We often spend most of the time of our days in the office. Why not make it a place that is fun and exciting aside from having colleagues that make your time in the office less stressful and more fun?
We spoke to a couple of people at the office and came up with a few tips and office hacks to make your office feel more homely making it easier for you to spend time at work.
5. DECORATE YOUR DESKS TO FEEL COMFORTABLE.
Our observation has led to us noticing 90% of employees who fill their desks up with what feels and looks like home and decorate their desks often join the company with the intention of staying long enough. However, the ones that usually barely fill their desks with anything, often leave the company after a month or two.
4. FURNISH ONE PART OF THE OFFICE WITH BEANBAGS AND GAMES!
When you’re having a bad day or just too stressed out with the workload, what better joy could there be than to just slump yourself down on some comfy beanbags and destress or have a timeout! It is a thoughtful gesture by the employer of the company to design the workspace as such. It's also nice to have a few boardgames, cards or even a dart board in the space!
3. SNACK CORNER. STOCK UP THE FRIDGE AND PANTRY!
Feeling sleepy in the middle of the afternoon? Feeling tired and need some coffee? Stock up the office fridge and pantry with your employees favourite snacks, food and drinks.
P/S, don’t forget the fun stuff too and restock when needed!
2. HAVE MEALS TOGETHER AS A FAMILY.
We sometimes spend lesser time with our own family at home, and more time at the office getting work done. Why not treat each other like family instead? Little lunches and dinner together as a team make a big difference in the lives of employees when you show them little appreciation like this, and brings everyone closer!
1. LEAVE BEHIND LITTLE NOTES & GIFTS.
The best things are the simplest gestures that will make your employees know you appreciate them more. If you know someone who is having a bad day or a rough time, leave them a note on their desks together with a cup of coffee, a chocolate or something they fancy.
There is no such definition of a perfect office, it is how you make your office to be perfect to your liking. Let us know if these tips work for you and share with us if you have better ones! Till we meet again, and Happy New Year!
Are you ready for 2020? With only a few more weeks left till we tear off our 2019 calendars to welcome 2020, we are excited to explore the new opportunities awaiting us this new year! We’ve had a marvellous 2019 expanding not only our knowledge on social media marketing but also our Fixie Dust family. Introducing the birth of a baby pixie! ME.
Hi everyone, this is Ashvini, your new Pixie. I joined Fixie Dust back in August this year to add a little more sugar, spice and everything nice in the Fixie Dust family. Coming from a Public Relations background, social media was a different venture altogether for me. Believe me, it sounds a lot easier than done!
It is indeed interesting how in this age and time, social media is the most powerful platform, yet many people often fail to realise it’s importance. So important that it can shape and tell a story about your brand (depending on how you tell your story) :P Well, if you’re looking for someone to tell an interesting story of your brand, then we’re ever ready to add a little sparkle to your brand.
If there is something I’ve learnt about Fixie Dust, is that social media isn’t just about posting visuals on Facebook and Instagram, but instead, it’s all about the content that is displayed on the page of your brand – content that tells the story of your brand, captions that makes people understand your product, the tone and mood the edit of the image gives out. Most of the time we like to go the extra mile to perfect every shoot we have for our brands, only because photos also make a huge impact as people’s first impressions.
I could go on all day typing about what we do on a day-to-day basis, but to summarize everything, why don’t you get headed to our social media pages and keep track of our every move and grow with us! IG: @fixiedust, FB: Fixie Dust
We hope you had a fantastic year, wishing all of you a blessed New Year and we hope 2020 brings us all good luck, good health, prosperity and abundance of happiness.
Spread the word. Share the love. Sprinkle some Fixie Dust wherever you go! Wishing you a sparkly new year!
